Allied American University and Veterans - Working Together Toward Excellence

Allied American University has a dedicated VA School Certifying Official and admissions representatives to assist in the application process and coordinating with the VA to make sure Veteran students receive their benefits. Once you have confirmed your benefit approval and submitted AAU's Veterans Information Form the School Certifying Official will take care of the rest. VA benefit payments are issued on a monthly basis and can be issued by check or direct deposit.

As a Veteran student of Allied American University you have the ability to combine your DoD tuition assistance with your VA education benefits depending on which benefit you are approved for. Generally speaking VA Chapter 1606 and VA Chapter 1607 benefits can be combined with DoD tuition assistance as long as you are not on active duty orders at the time of your enrollment period. While AAU does certify your courses the VA determines if the benefits are payable, so if you are planning on combining DoD tuition assistance with your VA education benefits please call the VA directly at 888-442-4551 to discuss.

If you do not have DoD tuition assistance funding available you can use VA Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits and the VA will pay up to 100% of your course tuition directly to the school so you can enroll with little or no money out of pocket. In addition starting October 1st, 2011 the VA is paying online only students a housing allowance stipend if you enroll full-time at Allied American University and are not on active duty. VA Chapter 33 recipients may also be eligible to receive a book and supplies of $41.67 per credit enrolled even though AAU has no textbook fees.

VRAP Deadline Is Approaching!

According to the VA, more than 94,000 veterans have applied for VRAP education benefits. While the VA has approved more than 77,000 Certificates of Eligibility, just over 27,000 of those eligible veterans have begun using their benefit. The VA is encouraging veterans to finish the process and get enrolled in eligible education programs as soon as possible.

A VA official recently stated, "We do not want any of the 99,000 slots to go unused. The program is only two years long. By law we can only accept applications until September 30, 2013."
