Scholarship Opportunities
A scholarship is a type of financial aid that does not require repayment. Typically, scholarships are offered for academic, artistic or athletic ability. However, there are thousands of other scholarships offered for a variety of reasons.

1.) 1,000 GPA Isn't Everything Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be current high school or college students or be planning to enroll within the next 12 months.

2.) Education Exchange College Grant Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be graduating seniors and U.S. citizens.
- Selection criteria include scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, character, leadership, essay and financial need.
- Judging is done from March to May of each year, and recipients are announced in June.
* Award amounts are between $1,000 - $5,000. Number of awards given is 34. Applications are available from ACCEL/Exchange member institutions.

3.) CKSF Scholarships
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must register online with CKSF and complete quizzes on various topics.
- Students may be U.S. high school students in grades 9 to 12 or college students.
* The award amount varies and one award is given out monthly.

4.) Discus Awards College Scholarships
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be U.S.-based high school students who have involvement or achievements in at least three of the following areas: academics, arts, athletics, community service, faith, government, green, technology, work or other achievements. Students may be in grades 9 to 12.
- Selection is based on merit.

5.) American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be high school seniors who plan to attend a U.S. college, university or certified trade school.
- Students must read the "Fire Sprinkler Essay" available online and then take an online quiz.
- Applicants receive one entry in the scholarship drawing for each question answered correctly.

7.) Project Working Moms and Dads, Too! Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be single or married mothers or fathers who plan to attend college. Applicants may be employed full-time or part-time or have been previously employed. Award may be used to pay for tuition and fees, books and supplies or any education related expense at any college or university.
- Recipients may use the funds to attend an online or traditional program.
- Selection is based on the application and short essay.

8.) Discover Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- A high school Junior who has at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale for 9th and 10th grade.
- Demonstrates accomplishments in community service and leadership and has faced a significant roadblock or challenge.
* Award amount is $40,000 each and the number of awards is 4. Scholarships may be used for any type of post high school education or training, certification, licensing, two or four year trade and technical education or a two or four year college degree.

9.) Barbara Weidner and Dorothy Vandercook Memorial Peace Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a high school senior or in your first year of college.
- Complete the application form.
- Write a brief autobiography of your activities relating to peace and social justice, nuclear disarmament issues, or conflict resolution. Include some proof of these activities (e.g., copies of newspaper articles, verification by your references).
- Include two letters of recommendation.
- Describe how you will contribute to a peaceful and just society in the future.

10.) Sam Walton Community Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.
- Cannot be a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate; the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate; or the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Board of Directors member as of March 29, 2010.
- Must be a high school senior graduating between August 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010. Home school diplomas and GED equivalency certificates are eligible with the same completion date requirement.
- Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point unweighted scale, and have taken either the ACT or SAT test.
- Must plan to enroll for fall 2010 as a freshman at a two-year or four-year college or university that is located in the U.S. and is accredited and listed on the official website of the U.S. Department of Education (http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx). Military academies are not approved institutions.
- Must have financial need and be able to demonstrate the need with required documents. (Note: Students with other funds that pay entirely for tuition, books, fees, and on-campus room and board are ineligible.)

11.) Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students who participate in the progressive movement, acting in the interests of issues such as expansion of civil rights and international solidarity, among others.
- Applicants must also have demonstrated financial need as well as a solid academic record.
* Award amount is up to $6,000 and the number of awards varies.

12.) Executive Women International Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Only high school junior can apply.
- Applicants must apply for the scholarship through a local chapter listed at the bottom of this Link: http://www.ewiconnect.com/ScriptContent/community/comm_ewisp.cfm
- Compete at the Chapter level and have the opportunity to possibly compete at the corporate level.
- Students may receive up to $10,000 in scholarship funds.
- Generally awarded in April/May of every year
- Award amount ranges from $2,000 to $10,000 and generally awarded in April or May.

13.) Best Buy @ 15 Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- This scholarship is looking for students with solid grades, who are involved in volunteer efforts in their schools and communities, and/or have a work history.
- Students must be planning to attend a college, university or technical school in the fall immediately following their high school graduation.
- 12th grade students from private, public, alternative or home schools are eligible to apply.
- Grants are a one-time award, so if you were a winner in the past, you aren't eligible to apply again
* Deadline for this scholarship is late March of every year. Scholarship winners are announced mid May of every year. Best Buy @15 Scholarship Program will award 1,000 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S or Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation.

14.) Association on American Indian Affairs (AIIA) Displaced Homemaker Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- The Association on American Indian Affairs offers Displaced Homemaker Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to those men and women who would not otherwise be able to complete their educational goals due to family responsibilities.
- This scholarship is generally for older students who have put off college to raise their children and students who are returning to college after raising their children.
* Funds in the amount of $750 per semester are disbursed directly to the college pending satisfactory progress. Funds may be used to assist with childcare, transportation and basic living expenses in addition to educational costs. Spring disbursement requires a copy of the fall semester's grades and a spring semester class schedule. This scholarship does not automatically renew. Students are eligible to apply on a yearly basis.

15.) Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST)
Eligibility requirements:

- Open to adult students at transitional points in their lives.
- Applicants may be single parents, individuals just entering the workforce of displaced workers.
- Chapter awards vary in amount: Corporate level awards 12 scholarships valued at $2,500 each.

16.) GEICO Life Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Those eligible are undergraduate student members who have completed at least 12 credit hours since returning to the university.
- He or she must be enrolled at the time of application and must be working toward a baccalaureate degree.
- If not a member of a Golden Key Chapter, an applicant must send in a letter of interest and have a G.P.A. of 3.7 or higher.

17.) AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a women over the age of 40
- United States Citizen
- Able to demonstrate financial need
- Enrolled in an accredited school or technical program in the U.S., within 6 months of the scholarship award date
* The AARP Foundation's Women's Scholarship Program provides scholarship funds to women 40+ seeking new job skills, training, and educational opportunities to support themselves and their families. The AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program is available to eligible individuals with moderate to lower incomes and limited financial resources.

18.) FiSCA National Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Criteria is based on academic achievement, leadership skills, community service.
- All applicants must fill out an application which included an essay, profiling an individual that has made a profound impact on their lives.
- All applications are reviewed by a selection committee which is comprised of industry leaders from across the country.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens, national and permanent residents.
*Scholarship winners receive a minimum $2,000 cash grant to be applied towards their freshman year of studies at a college of their choice.

19.) $20,000 Sweet-diggity-dawg Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be U.S. or international high school students graduating in 2009, 2010 or 2011 with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Regional qualifiers are selected by the Zinch Scholarship Selection Committee and then voted on by the public.
- Selection is on both need and merit based on what the applicant puts in his/her profile.

20.) Coca-Cola Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools);
- U.S. Citizens; U.S. Nationals; U.S. Permanent Residents; Temporary Residents (in a legalization program); Refugees; Asylees; Cuban-Haitian Entrants; or Humanitarian Parolees;
- Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application;

* High School Seniors can apply for this scholarship between August 1st October 31st of every year. There are 250 four-year, achievement based scholarships awarded yearly. 50 students will receive an award of $20,000 and 200 students will receive awards of $10,000 for college expenses.

21.) RMHC® U.S. Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Currently enrolled high school seniors who are eligible to attend an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school with a complete course of study may apply for this scholarship.

25.) CoffeeForLess.com Hit the Books Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Eligible student must be between the ages of 18-25 and enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Candidates should submit an essay of no more than 500 words on the subjects of the importance of education in their lives and how the scholarship money will assist the students' goals.
- CoffeeForLess.com Hit The Books Scholarship winners will be selected based upon two criteria: successful accomplishment of essay subject matter and individual student needs.
- Scholarship awardees will be expected to permit Coffee Serv Inc. to publish their winning essay on CoffeeForLess.com.
- Awardees will also be required to compose and publish a follow up blog posting on CoffeeForLess.com with a photograph of themselves and an update on how the scholarship has helped them accomplish their goals.

26.) Denny's Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be of Hispanic background.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States.
- Must be studying full-time in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Eligibility requirements:
- This scholarships4moms.net promotion is open to any individual 18 years or older.

- Must be a high school junior
- Have and maintain a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) through their high school career
- Have participated in community or volunteer activities
- Be planning to apply for financial assistance to attend colleges
- Attend an accredited four-year college or university during all years for which the scholarship is awarded

Eligibility requirements:
- A complete application must include name and contact information, background details, academic details, and a short original, previously unpublished written response to the scholarship topic, 'If you were granted the superpower to read minds, whose brain would you tap into and why?'

- To be eligible for the Big Dig Scholarship you must be currently in Grade 12 and planning on entering into your first year of college/university in2010 or be currently in your first or second year of college/university.

34.) Ron Brown Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be an African American high school senior who will make a significant contribution to society.
- Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community services activities, and demonstrate financial need.
- The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.
- Current college students are not eligible to apply.

Eligibility requirements:
- Must be of Hispanic decent

39.) National Pathfinder Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a college women enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior or a women enrolled in a Masters Program.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
- Resent high school graduates and first year college women are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants may only apply for one NFRW (National Federation of Republican Women) scholarship per year.

40.) The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a high school senior with documented learning disabilities.
- Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4 point scale (or equivalent)
- Demonstrate financial need
- Provide most current documentation of an identified learning disability.
- Note: ADD/ADHD or Asperger's alone is not considered a learning disability; eligible candidates; with ADD/ADHD or Asperger's must also provide documentation of a specific learning disability.
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Be enrolled as a senior in high school, public or private, with the intention of pursuing a 4-year undergraduate degree.
- Complete an application.
- A personal statement, describing the applicant's frustrations and triumphs in dealing with his or her specific learning disability. Applicants should feel free to express themselves in creative ways, and be sure to share how they embody the characteristics of an ideal candidate (as described above). The statement should make specific mention of how he/she believes a college education will enhance his/her life.
- A high school transcript. Applicants should contact their school guidance office or the appropriate school administrator to obtain a copy (unofficial transcripts will be accepted).
- Three (3) letters of recommendation.
- A financial statement
- Standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, other); Unofficial copies of standardized test score reports will be accepted.
- Current documentation of a learning disability that includes evaluation reports, I.E.P. and/or 504 plan, etc. (Applicants should note that ADD/ADHD alone is not considered a learning disability. Eligible candidates with ADD/ADHD must also provide documentation of a specific learning disability).
* Two $10,000 awards will be granted annually. Awards are given to high school seniors with identified learning disabilities (LD) who will be pursing four-year undergraduate degrees.

41.) Linda Lael Miller Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a woman age 25 years or older who is having a difficult time finding scholarships for which they qualify.
- Must write a 500 word essay: putting into words your feelings on exactly why you are applying for the Linda Lael Miller Scholarship, precisely how you would use the funds if you won, how reaching your educational objectives will improve your future, and the dollar amount you would like to receive from the Linda Lael Miller.
- Scholarship funds may be used not only for tuition and books, but also for childcare, transportation and other expenses not covered by traditional scholarships.

42.) Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards
Eligibility requirements:
- Provide the primary financial support for their families (including children, spouse, siblings and/or parents).
- Have financial need.
- Are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
- Reside in one of Soroptimist International of the Americas' member countries/territories (Argentina,

43.) Ronald Regan College Leaders Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicant must be US citizens enrolled fill-time in good standing at any accredited, four year degree granting institution in the United States or its territories.
- Applicants may apply for the Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholarship program during their sophomore year in college. Winners will receive the scholarship for their junior year in college and may apply for renewal before their senior year of college.
- While sophomores are preferred, juniors may apply for a one time award for the senior year.
- Students attending two-year schools may apply as juniors for a one-time scholarship for the senior year upon transfer to a four year institution.
- Applicants will be asked to submit an essay of 500-750 words describing their backgrounds, career objectives, and scope of participation in leadership activities promoting freedom, American values and constitutional principals. Although the program is merit based rather than need based, the Phillips Foundation will take into consideration evidence of financial need.

45.) USA Funds Access to Education Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships are open to high school seniors, currently enrolled college or professional degree students or incoming college or professional degree students who plan to enroll or are enrolled in full- or half-time undergraduate or full-time graduate or professional degree coursework at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. GED recipients also are eligible.
- Students from households with annual incomes of $35,000 or less, with priority consideration given to students who are members of ethnic minority groups, physically disabled, or residents of states for which USA Funds serves as the designated guarantor. Students must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. Students must plan to enroll or be enrolled beginning with the fall 2010 term through Feb. 1, 2011.

47.) LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) National Scholarship Fund:
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant with Hispanic heritage
- Must have applied to or be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university, or graduate school, including 2 year colleges, or vocational schools that lead to an associate's degree
- A student will not be eligible for a scholarship if her/she is related to a scholarship committee member, the Council president, or an individual contributor to the local funds of the Council
- There are three types of scholarships awards:
- National Scholastic Achievement Awards
The student has a GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and, if the student is an entering freshman,
The student scores 29 or higher on the ACT test, or 1350 or higher on the SAT test.
- Honors Awards
The student has a GPA of 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and, if the student is an entering freshman,
The student scores 23 or higher on the ACT test, or 1100 or higher on the SAT test.
- General Awards
Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual's motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through a personal interview and in the personal essay. Need, community involvement, and leadership activities will also be considered.
* Awards start at $250 and go up to $2,000. Awards of $500 and under are disbursed on July 15; awards over $500 are disbursed in two equal payments on July 15 and January 15. Scholarships may be used for the payment of tuition, academic fees, board, and the purchase of required educational materials and books.

48.) LULAC GE Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- The General Electric Scholarship is a separate scholarship provided by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers.
- This scholarship is intended to assist and encourage outstanding minority students in completing their college education.
- The program is directed specifically to minority students with career interests in business or engineering. The GE/LULAC Scholarship Program is open to Sophomores through Seniors in College interested in business or engineering majors this scholarship awards two $5000 scholarships.

49.) Tzu Chi Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Demonstrates financial need for college tuition
- Is a U.S. high school graduating seniors or equivalent

50.) Korean American Scholarship Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be of Korean ethnicity
- Must submit an application to the respective KASF scholarship region (Western Region, Midwestern Regional Chapter, Southern Region, MidEastern Regional Chapter, Eastern Region, and Northeastern Regional Chapter)
- Must be a full time student at a school in one of the designated regions according to the KASF's delineation of regions
- Must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 of higher

Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be of Central American or other Latino ethnicity
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
- Applicants must possess a minimum 2.5 GPA

54.) Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship

55.) Possible Women Foundation International Scholarship Program
Eligibility requirements:
- Scholarship applicants must be accepted into a program of study at an educational institution, as evidenced by a proof of acceptance either an acceptance letter OR a current transcript.
- Applicants must be at least 25 years of age as of the date of the postmark of the application.
- Applicants must complete the application form and essay requirement and must mail all required materials to the address provided. All materials being submitted for an applicant (application, recommendation letters and program acceptance letter or current transcripts) must be submitted in one package. All material related to an applicant must note the applicant's name and email address. The application package must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 22, 2011. No exceptions will be made. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications will be evaluated based on the information provided; therefore, all questions should be answered as thoroughly as possible. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed to the application.
- Applicants for domestic scholarships must be a current resident of the United States (including Puerto Rico), or a U.S. citizen living abroad who is applying for study at an educational facility located within the United States. Foreign nationals living in the United States who have a green card and who plan to study within the United States may also apply. PWFI does not award scholarships for study outside of the United States.
