AAU graduates successfully take their CIS degree straight into the career world as network administrators, systems managers, programmers, web developers and designers, systems analysts, technical support administrators, and security experts. Program Objectives
This program prepares students with the foundational background to acquire a high-level of knowledge from a broad base of computer and information science concepts and skills to create solutions to contemporary problems in computer science and information management. Students will acquire the critical and current knowledge and skills needed to integrate software engineering, programming, database development, the Internet and information management. Graduates are qualified to enter graduate-level programs.
- Analyze the external and internal influences on computer and information systems institutions and practices
- Identify the structures in computer and information systems organizations that impact the profession
- Differentiate the roles and tasks of computer and information systems leaders and professionals in various organizations
- Use technology and other resources to remain current in the student's chosen field within computer and information systems.
- Make effective computer science and information systems decisions using appropriate analytical and critical thinking processes
- Identify and analyze legal and/or ethical issues that arise in computer and information systems practices and institutions
- Demonstrate effective written communication skills in a computer and information systems environment
- Enter a graduate level program without further academic preparation
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems Program Description
The purpose of the Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems is to prepare students for entry-level computer science positions in business, industry and non-profit organizations. The program provides the foundational background for students seeking to acquire a high-level of knowledge from a broad base of computer and information science concepts and skills to create solutions to contemporary problems in computer science and information management. Students will acquire the critical and current knowledge and skills needed to integrate software engineering, programming, database development, Internet and information management. Allied American University (AAU) also offers Associate of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems.
