AAU WASC Accreditation Announcement
AAU is already DETC accredited. Now, AAU has also been determined eligible to proceed with application for candidacy for accreditation by the Senior College Commission of WASC.
Allied American University applied for Eligibility from the Senior College Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC reviewed the application and determined that AAU is eligible to proceed with an application for Candidacy for Accreditation. A determination of Eligibility is not a formal status with the Accrediting Commission, nor does it ensure eventual accreditation; it is a preliminary finding that Allied American University is potentially accreditable and can proceed within four years of its Eligibility determination to be reviewed for Candidacy status with the Accrediting Commission. Questions about Eligibility may be directed to AAU or to WASC at www.wascsenior.org or (510) 748-9001.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States. It was formed in 1962 to promote the welfare, interests, and development of education in the Western Region. One of three commissions within WASC, the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities is responsible for the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of colleges and universities offering the baccalaureate degree and above in California, Hawaii, Guam and the Pacific Basin.
